How to Connect Your Honeywell CT410A Thermostat

A bimetallic spring inside the Honeywell CT410A thermostat reacts to changes in temperature, turning your baseboard heater on and off. A CT410A only has two terminals, making it easy to connect to your home wiring. Installing the thermostat yourself will help save you the expense of hiring an electrician and, along with the heat, you’ll be able to enjoy the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

Instructions

  Turn off the power to the heating circuit that the CT410A will control. Switch off the breaker or remove the fuse that powers the circuit. Don’t rely on a switch or thermostat in the circuit to disconnect the power.

  Pull the cover off the existing thermostat, and remove the screws that hold it to the electrical box. Pull the thermostat and wiring out of the electrical box. Unscrew the terminals or wire nuts that connect the wiring to the thermostat, and discard the thermostat.

  Connect the two white wires in the electrical box to each other using a wire nut. Hold the ends of the wires together and screw a wire nut onto both wires until it's snug.

  Slide the end of one black wire from the electrical box under one of the terminals on the CT410A, then tighten the terminal screw.

  Slide the end of the other black wire under the other terminal, and tighten it as well.

  Push the wires back into the electrical box, and screw the CT410A to the box using the included mounting screws. Place the cover on the CT410A and press it into place.
