How to Clean Trane Burners

The Trane company boasts a wide range of gas furnaces with options for humidity control and combined heating and cooling units. Trane gas furnaces require regular fall maintenance and cleanings each year to ensure they function properly. The burners on a gas heating unit also require some careful cleaning to ensure that rust and debris does not build up over months of use.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the unit completely. Remove the outer panel of the Trane furnace using a screwdriver and place it to the side. Locate the burners inside of the unit, which are generally located near the base of the opened panel. Put on a pair of sturdy work gloves.

    • 2

Spray the burner with some compressed air to remove extraneous debris. Apply the air to all the angles of the burner surface to ensure the whole area has been dusted off.

    • 3

Gently scrub the burner with a wire brush in small circular motions. Apply more compressed air to the burner to remove any debris the brush disturbs. Replace the outer panel of the Trane furnace.
