How to Install Draped Insulation

Poorly insulated doors and windows can increase your energy bill during the winter and summer months. Cold air can penetrate windows and doors and reduce the temperature inside your home, and the outside heat during the summer can increase your home's temperature. Installing energy-efficient doors and windows can solve this problem. If you're looking to save on cost, installing a thermal insulated drape provides an additional barrier and helps regulate the temperature inside your home.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length and width of your doors or windows with a tape measure. When you're determining the window's length, measure the space between the top of the window frame and the floor.

    • 2

Install a curtain rod over your doors and windows. Use your door or window measurements to determine the appropriate width for the curtain rod. Rod sets include wall brackets, nails and instructions. Determine the proper location for the wall brackets and then mark this location with a pencil. Secure brackets on both sides of your windows or doors with nails.

Place the thermal drape on the curtain rod by feeding the rod through holes in the top of the drape. Rest the curtain rod on the wall brackets. Keep the drapes closed to insulate your house and block unwanted cold and hot temperatures.
