How to Disconnect the Coil on an Oil Burner

Disconnecting the coils on an oil burner is required if they need to be replaced. This is a task that is done when a repair is needed or as regular preventative maintenance. Turn of the burner for the boiler and allow the water to cool. Turn of the water supply for the boiler and to the hot water coils.

Attach one end of a hose to the drain valve on the boiler. Place the other end of the hose into a drain or set it outside away from the house. Open the drain valve and wait for all of the water to drain out of the boiler.

Turn off the power disconnects used for the boiler and locate the smoke pipes. Remove the smoke pipes from the boiler.

Remove the screws that are used to secure the rear casing panel using the screwdriver. This will expose the hot water coil mounting plates.
