How to Bleed a Radson Wall Mounted Heater

Radson manufactures a line of wall-mounted hot-water radiators in different sizes for residential use. The radiator is equipped with an air-bleed valve to purge air from the system so the heated water circulates properly through the appliance. If the radiator does not warm normally, makes low humming noises or does not heat at all, trapped air in the unit may be the problem. Bleeding the air valve takes only a few minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Old towel
  • Small pan or metal bowl
  • Work gloves
  • Radiator bleed key supplied with the Radson

Instructions

    • 1

Place a towel on the floor below the bleed valve, which is on the side of the Radson opposite the supply and return pipe connections. Set the metal pan or bowl on the towel immediately below the bleed valve.

    • 2

Insert the key into the opening on the bleed valve while wearing work gloves to protect your hands from the hot water and heat of the radiator.

    • 3

Twist the key counterclockwise slowly to bleed air from the Radson. The valve may make hissing and sputtering noises while spitting a small amount of water, which will drip into the bowl or pan.

    • 4

Twist the key clockwise as far as it will turn when the noises stop and water drips steadily from the valve.
