How to Adjust Water Pressure on a Peerless Boiler

Peerless manufactures boilers for both residential and commercial use. The majority of these appliances burn either gas or oil to heat water inside a boiler. This hot water is then circulated through a network of pipes to warm the area. The water is provided to the boiler through a municipal water system or well. Adjusting the water pressure on a Peerless boiler is simply a matter of locating the water-pressure valve and opening or closing it until it falls within the Peerless guidelines.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the current water pressure in your Peerless boiler. Look for a pressure gauge, sometimes on the side or underneath the boiler. This gives a reading in "bars," which indicates the current pressure in the system. Make a note of the current bar reading.

    • 2

Consult your owner's manual for the correct bar reading for your Peerless model.

    • 3

Look beneath the boiler for the cold-water supply line leading into the boiler. If the pipe isn't labeled, put a protective glove on your hand and gently touch the pipes with your finger. One pipe should be slightly warm, which is the water return pipe. The other pipe should be cold, which is the cold-water supply pipe.

    • 4

Look for a pressure valve on the cold-water supply pipe. These may have slim plastic handles or the same type of handle that you find on a garden hose faucet.

    • 5

Keep one eye on the Peerless pressure gauge. Slowly turn the knob on the water supply valve until you see the gauge fall within the bar specifications for your boiler.
