How to Reattach a Radiator to the Connection After Floor Elevation

Set the radiator in its original position above the floor connection.

Measure the distance between the connection outlet and the radiator with measuring tape. Make a note of the difference.

Purchase an extension coupling the same size as the gap between the radiator and the pipe connection.

Wrap the threads on the radiator and the pipe with plumber's tape. Pull the tape tightly across the threads as you wrap it. Trim off excess with scissors.

Screw the coupling into the floor pipe. Repeat the process for the coupling connection on the radiator. Tighten the coupling with a wrench.

Turn on the water supply for the heating system and let the steam or water circulate until the radiator is at operating temperature. Check the coupling for leaks and tighten if needed.

Place a basin underneath the radiator bleed screw. Slowly turn the screw until water seeps from the bleed hole. Retighten the bleed screw.
