Differences Between TL4000, TL5000 & ATC-3000

The TL4000, TL5000 and ATC-3000 are efficiency-based hot water circulators made by RedyTemp and designed to resolve problems caused by traditional water circulators. These include hot water siphoning, excessive water flowing, frequent thermostatic valve replacements, fluctuating temperatures and annoying sounds. The result is that the user wastes less of her hard-earned money on pesky maintenance and replacement issues.
  1. Overview

    • All three hot water circulators are available with either a dedicated or non-dedicated line. More importantly, they also use closed-valve technology that prevents hot water from being siphoned into the cold line. This is in contrast to conventional crossover valve systems, in which hot water gets siphoned through the cold line during very cold days, which in turn causes the water heater to have to work harder.

    ATC-3000

    • The ATC-3000 is available with or without a dedicated return line, and it's built strictly for one-story homes. Featured is an anti-siphon solenoid, two flex lines, a built-in check valve and a 20-event timer. The latter allows homeowners to customize hot water readiness and distribution to fit their needs. Meanwhile, the check valves and solenoid prevent bleed-over from both directions. Bleed-over refers to hot and cold water mixing due to inadequate valve controls.

    TL4000

    • Available as the TL4000D and TL4000N, the former of which offers a dedicated return line and the latter of which doesn't, the TL4000 hot water circulators feature a check-in valve, temperature probe and 20-event timer with rechargeable battery. Also included is a flow adjuster with a range of one to 14 gallons per minute, or gpm, as well as a 16-foot head and a 1/25 hp motor. The flow adjuster allows homeowners to fine-tune their water temperatures.

    TL5000

    • The TL5000 is available as the TL5000D and TL5000N, the former having a dedicated return line. As the most expensive circulator, it is an upgrade from the TL4000 in that it has a more powerful flow adjuster (from two to 30 gpm), as well as a larger 31-foot head and a faster 1/8 hp motor. The improved specifications allow it to support three-story homes in which the distance from the water heater is between 125 and 300 feet.
