Mounting Maytag Ice Makers

Maytag is a brand owned by the Whirlpool Corporation, a manufacturer that makes a number of lines of refrigerators and freezers. These appliances make use of ice makers to create and dispense ice. A Maytag's ice maker may fail for a variety of reasons and require replacement. Mounting a new ice maker within your Maytag's freezer is a process that doesn't require an existing knowledge of home appliance repair techniques. You can mount your Maytag's ice maker without professional help.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect your Maytag appliance from the power source by unplugging the power cord.

    • 2

Find the water shut-off valve at the bottom of the rear of the Maytag appliance. Twist the valve's handle counterclockwise to activate it.

    • 3

Slide the ice maker assembly into the space vacated by the old one within the top of your Maytag's freezer area.

    • 4

Connect the wire harness at the back of the Maytag ice maker to the wire harness at the rear of the Maytag's freezer area. The harnesses can be joined via their two clasps. Press the ice maker's harness clasp against and into the freezer's harness clasp.

Insert the screws included with the ice maker to secure the ice maker assembly in place within your Maytag appliance. The screw locations vary slightly depending on the exact model of ice maker. However, there will be some screws to insert into both the top and bottom of the ice maker assembly. Use a 1/4-inch hex screwdriver to insert the screws.

Slide the included ice bin into place on the top of the ice maker assembly. There are no screws or bolts that hold the bin down.
