Removing Scratches on a White Sink

A white, porcelain-coated sink may bring your kitchen together, but scratches and chips wear down the white color over time. Scratches occur from everyday use, whether dropped dishes or silverware abrasions. Since abrasive material causes more scratches, you need to fill in the scratches and chips with porcelain filler. The filler covers up the scratch and makes your sink look new.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the area of the scratch with water and soap. Dry it with a cloth. Ensure the area is completely dry.

    • 2

Dip the provided brush into the liquid porcelain filler. Gently brush the scratch two or three times, applying only a little liquid with each brush. If the scratch is deep, brush over it five to six times. After a thin coat has been applied, let the liquid dry.

    • 3

Sand the applied filler with fine sandpaper. Pro Handyman suggests 220-grit sandpaper. Once the area is smooth, examine it for remnants of the scratch. If you can still see the scratch, apply another thin film of filler and smooth it down once it dries.

Rub the area vigorously with a white cloth to remove the dullness of the filler. Use only a cotton cloth or other non-abrasive material.
