How to Add or Remove Jumpers on a GE Wireless Door Chime

Adding a wireless door chime to your home or business allows you to replace an existing chime without worrying about wiring the new door chime, or having to locate the transformer that operates your current door chime. The GE wireless door chime utilizes jumpers, much like those in a garage door remote, to ensure your door chime button operates only your door chime and not your neighbor’s. The jumpers also program different chime sounds, if your chime has those options.

Instructions

    • 1

Lift your GE wireless door chime off the mounting screws holding it to the wall.

    • 2

Slide open the battery housing on the back of the chime and remove the batteries.

    • 3

Insert a small slotted screwdriver into the slot along the bottom of the wireless doorbell push button. Pop the cover off the push button and remove the battery.

    • 4

Remove the screw holding the jumper housing door closed on the back of the door chime.

    • 5

Compare the jumper locations on the wireless door chime and pushbutton. If the jumpers do not match, carefully pull one jumper at a time from the connectors on the chime or pushbutton with needle-nose pliers.

    • 6

Slide the jumper over the two prongs of the jumper base to create a connection between the upper and lower prong. Continue to remove and add one jumper at a time until the jumpers on the chime match the jumpers on the pushbutton.

    • 7

Store unused jumpers in the pushbutton and chime by carefully sliding the jumper over one prong on the jumper base, leaving the other prong open.

    • 8

Install the battery in the pushbutton and snap the cover onto the pushbutton base.

    • 9

Close the jumper cover door and tighten the screw to hold it in place. Install the batteries in the chime and slide the battery cover back onto the chime. Hang the chime on its mounting screws.
