How to Epoxy on Laminate Floors

As well as looking unpleasant, holes and nicks in your laminate flooring can allow moisture to seep into your boards and cause them to warp if they contain a real-wood top layer. As soon as you see any damage to your laminate floor, you should take steps to repair it before problems arise. Fortunately, epoxy resin fillers you can use to stop the rot are available from most hardware stores.

Instructions

    • 1

Contact the manufacturer of your laminate flooring to ask if it sells a purpose-made epoxy filler for your flooring. This is the best way of ensuring you get a filler that matches the color of your laminate boards. If your flooring's manufacturer does not provide a purpose-made solution, visit your local hardware store or go online to find a filler that matches your flooring.

Mix your epoxy filler as directed by the manufacturer's instructions. Some filler products come in two parts that need to be prepared before application.

    • 3

Test a small amount of the filler on a damaged part of your floor. Allow this to dry and then check the color match. If you're not happy with the color, make sure you've mixed the filler properly or contact your local hardware store to source an alternative product.

Push a liberal amount of filler deep into the damaged sections of your laminate floor. Use a scraper to ensure imperfections are completely filled. Many epoxy fillers come with a plastic scraper, but you may need to provide your own. If you don't have one, use a thick piece of cardboard.

Wipe over the area of your floor where you applied the filler to remove any excess epoxy and allow to dry.
