How to Glue a Wood Frame to a Cinder Block Wall

Gluing a wood frame to a cinder block wall may be necessary if you’re installing a pegboard on its surface. Pegboards are useful storage options in basements, garages and other locations where a cinder block wall may be present. However, in order to mount them so you can hang hooks properly, the pegboard must go on a frame. Gluing the wood frame to the wall is a quick process.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the wooden frame up to the wall, positioning it in the location you want. Trace around its corners with a pencil to mark it for reference.

    • 2

Lay the wood frame on a work surface. Cover the surface with newspaper or a drop cloth if you’re concerned about getting glue on it.

    • 3

Fill a glue tray with urethane glue, which bonds fast and works to tightly bind differing materials like the wood and cinder block. Apply a layer of the glue with a glue roller onto the back of the wood frame.

    • 4

Pick up the frame and press it onto the cinder-block wall. Run your hands along the edges of the frame to make sure the surfaces connect. Allow the glue to dry for at least 24 hours before attaching anything to the frame.
