Mix 1 tablespoon of liquid detergent soap per quart of water. If the anodized aluminum is simply dull, clean with a microfiber cloth. If there is pitting or rust, clean with an abrasive sponge. Do not use steel wool.
Rinse the surface of the anodized aluminum with fresh water and a clean non-abrasive sponge. Allow it to dry for one hour.
Put on a pair of neoprene gloves.
Moisten a cloth with denatured alcohol and wipe down the surface of the anodized aluminum.
Apply the protective coating with a lint-free cloth or high-density foam brush or roller. One coat is usually sufficient to protect the clear anodized aluminum from fading and corrosion. Only apply a second coat if directed to by the label's instructions.
