Instructions

    • 1

Reinforce a hollow, metal rack with a wooden dowel. Remove all clothes from the rack. Use a screwdriver to loosen the rack from the wall. Insert a wooden dowel, at least 1/4 of an inch shorter than the rack. Reattach the rack to the wall.

    • 2

Support a bowing wooden or plastic closet rack with a wooden closet pole. Take all clothes off the rack. Measure the height of the closet rod. Be sure to measure in the area where the rack does not sag.

    • 3

Drill a hole through a 1 3/8-inch wooden closet pole with an electric drill and a 1-inch spade bit. Drill the hole at area that matches the proper height of the closet rod.

    • 4

Cut through the center of the hole with a saw; this will create a notch on which to rest the closet rod. Position the wooden pole into place.
