How to Glue Down a Laminate Floor Buckling After It's Installed

Laminate flooring that locks itself in place is often trouble-free. However, if you have laminate flooring that is buckling and won't stay in position, you may want to remove it and glue it together so it doesn't move. Remember that once the laminate is glued in place, you can't unlock it for repairs so make sure you want the laminate in a permanent position.

Instructions

    • 1

Pry the baseboard molding away from one side of the wall. Use a crowbar and carefully pull the molding away from the wall. This allows you to access the flooring.

    • 2

Remove all of the laminate boards by lifting them and pulling them away to unlock them. Organize them so you remember how they were removed and can easily put them back in order. This is important if you have several boards cut to fit the room.

    • 3

Install each board back in its original location by placing a line of glue along the tongue on each length of board.

    • 4

Slide the board back in position and tap it into place using a tapping block.

    • 5

Allow the first three rows of laminate to dry for three hours before proceeding. This sets them in place and allows you to use them as a gauge for the remaining boards.

    • 6

Continue reinstalling all the boards until the flooring is intact. Allow the glue to dry for at least three hours before walking on it.

    • 7

      Reinstall the baseboard molding.
