Locate the studs in the wall by knocking on the wall with your knuckles. Studs are wall construction bits secure for nailing or drilling things into. Walls that are hollow, however, will not be able to hold up the weight of a mounted television. Listen for a solid sound as you go knocking around the wall; this is your stud.
Mark the studs with a pencil by making a dot, line or X-mark on the wall. Use the markings to determine where to mount the television. When you locate a suitable place on the wall for the TV to go, measure the area with a tape measure and compare the height and length dimensions with the TV you wish to mount, as well as the mount itself, which will take up some room on the wall.
Hold up the wall mount against the wall where you want to hang the television. Position the mount so that it is over the studs you marked. Ask your assistant to place the level on top of the mount. Adjust the mount if the level is off-center.
Mark the drill holes onto the wall based on where the mount will be placed. The drill holes guide you as you affix the mount to the wall.
Hold the mount in place over the holes while your assistant drills the screws into the wall. Make sure the screws are tight and flush with the wall. The mount should now be freestanding on the wall.
Connect the back of the television to the TV mount. The mount will come with screws and other hardware used to secure the television to the mount. Hardware may be dependent on the type of function the wall mount serves. For instance, some wall mounts can swivel left to right and move up and down.
Attach the power cord to the television and insert the other end into the wall outlet. The wall outlet should be close to the TV so that the cord does not have to travel far in the bathroom.
