Place the two pieces of countertop onto the cabinet frame, and push the mitered sections close to each other leaving a 1-inch space in between them. Each of the ends should be ½ inch from the wall corner.
Apply a 1/8-inch bead of silicone caulk to the inside edge of one counter top miter end with a caulk gun. Push the two tops together, ensuring the mitered back splash corner aligns with the corner of the wall.
Go under the countertop and loosely install the countertop bolts, starting at the notches closest to the wall. Push the two flanges on the bolt into the counter top notches. If necessary, hold the flanges and turn the bolt counterclockwise to increase the space between the flanges to fit them inside the notches.
Thread the nut with your finger until the bolt flanges are snug against the sides of each notch. Hand tighten each countertop bolt in this manner.
Tighten the nut on the rear bolt two revolutions with a wrench. Once you tighten the rear bolt, tighten the front bolt two revolutions and tighten the center bolt last. Inspect the top of the counter top to ensure that the countertop ends are flush.
Continue tightening the countertop bolts in small increments until they are fully tight. The top of the countertop should remain flush and the seam barely visible.
