How to Adjust Pullout Kitchen Cabinet Doors by Merillat Cabinets

Merillat began building cabinets in 1946 and has a reputation for providing a quality product. They have a variety of cabinet options, including slide-out shelves, trays and accessories for bottom cabinets. Through consistent use, the doors of cabinets might start to sag or not be aligned as they once were. This can also happen if the slide-out is not returned fully into the cabinet when the door is closed. Re-adjusting the hinge to fix the issue takes a few moments and requires using some common household tools.

Instructions

Look at the door that needs adjusting and determine what kind of an adjustment it needs. Merillat hinges adjust in six ways to help ensure a proper fit.

    • 2

Find the screw that's associated with your particular problem. With the cabinet door fully open, look at the hinge and identify the screws. One screw in the center of the hinge attaches to the cabinet. This screw controls the up and down movement of the door. The screw just to the right of the first one controls the tilt of the door, while the screw to the far left controls the distance between the door and the cabinet frame.

    • 3

Loosen or tighten the screw that controls the adjustment you need. You'll need to do that if, for example, you have a door that is slightly tilted out at the top and has moved away from the cabinet.

    • 4

Fix the tilt first. Loosen the screw just to the right in the hinge body opening on the cabinet frame. Raise the door until it looks level and re-tighten the screw. Use a measuring tape to check the gap from the door to the cabinet frame or a small level to get it perfectly straight. Close the door. Check to see whether the door is still pushed away from the cabinet frame. Sometimes fixing one issue solves others. If not, keep adjusting.

Loosen the screw to the far right on the hinge body to adjust the distance of the door to the cabinet frame. Move the door until the desired distance is reached. Then tighten the screw.
