Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length of the wall or ceiling edge. Use this measurement to cut a piece of adhesive drywall tape to fit the edge.

    • 2

Apply the adhesive drywall tape to the desired edge. Run your hand down the tape to ensure its effectively adhering to the surface. The drywall tape creates a smooth finished edge by giving the joint compound something extra to adhere to.

    • 3

Load a finish knife with joint compound. Apply the joint compound over the adhesive drywall tape, moving from the edge toward the wall. Continue to work the joint compound out approximately 3 to 4 inches on the wall, easing the pressure as you feather the edges.

    • 4

Allow the joint compound to dry for at least 24 hours before sanding it smooth with 220-grit sandpaper. Wipe away the sanding dust with a tack cloth.
