How to Change the Worm Gears for a Garage Door

Inside the motor housing of your garage door opener you will find a series of components. One of these components is a worm gear. This is a circular metal or plastic gear that functions to help raise and lower the garage door. If your garage door isn't rising or lowering, it is time to replace the worm gear. This can be done without the help of a professional.
