Instructions

    • 1

Extinguish all naked flames and refrain from turning any electrical devices on or off. The spark created could trigger an explosion if you have a serious gas leak.

    • 2

Open all the windows in your house to allow any gas to escape.

    • 3

Turn on your gas leak detector and search for the source of your suspected leak if you have access to the pipes below your house. Your detector will tell you how close you are to any leak. As you approach the source of your leak, your machine will give a higher reading. Consult your detector's user's manual for specific operating instructions.

    • 4

Use a gas detector spray to pinpoint the gas leak once you have a good idea where it is coming from. Apply detector spray to the area of pipe you suspect is leaking. The spray will start to bubble if a leak is present.

    • 5

Shut off the gas supply to your house once you've identified the source of the leak.

    • 6

Call your gas supplier to arrange to have the leaking pipe repaired.
