How to Replace a Leaking Hot Tub Jet

Hot tub jets provide you a constant stream of water that massages your body and sends you into a relaxed state, but only if they work correctly. Hot tub jets are known to leak, mostly due to cracks or old age. The jet insert is most often the culprit, but a quick replacement of the insert will fix the problem. Because jets are not screwed into place, there’s no need for tools. All you’ll need to get the job done is your hands.

  Turn off power to your hot tub. It’s not necessary to drain your hot tub to replace a jet insert, although you may get a bit wet, depending on where the leaking jet is located.

  Remove the jet by grabbing the sides of it with both hands. Twist it counterclockwise. The jet should pop off. If you have an older hot tub -- as in 10 years or older -- you may have to unclip the jet from its housing. If the jet doesn’t have clips and doesn’t come out by twisting it, it may be stuck in place. Use a pipe wrench to get a better grip on the jet and twist it counterclockwise.

  Measure the jet insert. You’ll need to measure both the diameter and height. The height includes the distance from the face of the insert to the top of the tube-shaped part. Order an insert that matches the measurements you took.

  Attach the new jet insert. Place the insert into the jet housing and turn the insert clockwise to lock it into position. If you have an older style hot tub, clip the jet insert into place.
