Cut a section of home siding to fit across the edge of the bottom window sill with a razor. Mount the siding piece onto the sill with 1 3/4-inch siding nails and a hammer.
Apply self-sticking flashing material to the sill, spreading it smoothly over the surface area of the sill, siding extension and window frame, then extending at least 10 inches from the edges of the sill and frame onto the exterior wall of your home. Make sure the entire piece adheres to the sill, frame and wall. Use a priming spray to ensure the self-sticking flashing adheres properly in colder weather.
Staple any loose or peeling corners of the flashing material to the exterior walls with a hand stapler. Alternately, you can nail the flashing to the walls with roofing nails and a hammer.
