How to Install Window Inserts for Haas Garage Doors

Window inserts provide a good way to update the look of your Haas garage door. The window inserts are plastic and mount inside the window frame between the glass and the frame. Haas, like many other manufacturers, offers a wide range of inserts from typical grid inserts to elaborate sunset designs. Installing window inserts for Haas garage doors does require a helper. Your helper ensures the outer frame stays in place while you disassemble the frame on the inside of the garage door.

Instructions

Ask your helper to stand on the outside of the Haas door and hold the outer frame of the window. This prevents the outer frame from falling out of the door when you remove the retainers.

    • 2

Insert a small flat-head screwdriver in the left corner of the inside frame retainers. Slip the screwdriver under the left retainer and pry the end away from the window frame. Once you can grab the end of the retainer with your fingers, slowly pull it away from the window completely.

    • 3

Remove the right side retainer and bottom retainer in the same manner. Once the side and bottom retainers are off the window, pry up one end of the top retainer. Hold the center of the glass with one hand and pull the top retainer away from the window frame with your free hand. Gently pull the glass out of the window frame.

Place the window insert into the window frame, while your helper continues to hold the outside of the frame. Place the glass back into the window frame over the back of the insert. Hold the glass in place with one hand and press the top retainer into place at the top of the frame. Press the retainer with your thumb until the edge of the retainer spreads over the glass.

Install the remaining three retainers just as you did the upper retainer. Tap the top of all four retainers with a rubber mallet to ensure each is secure to the frame. The edges of the retainers should slightly spread over the glass to provide a secure hold. Repeat the process for all windows on your Haas garage door.
