How to Apply a Base Cap on a Base Heater

Many homes come equipped with base heaters. These are rectangular heating vents usually located where the floor meets the wall. Since heat rises, these base heaters are ideal for home heating purposes. However, it is important to ensure that a cover is installed on the heater, or else the unit can be dangerous. A base heater cap can be installed in a matter of minutes.

     Turn off the power supply to your home heating system. Allow the base heater to cool.

     Pop the end caps off of each end of the base heater unit.

     Lift the heater cap up from the bottom and remove the cap from the base heater.

     Place the new cover over the base heater and press it down until it snaps in place.

     Replace the end caps of the unit and turn on the power supply to the base heater.
