Ensure the washer is empty. Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet.
Use a Phillips screwdriver and a socket wrench to remove the various screws and bolts securing the back of the cover to the washer.
Locate the belt at the front of the open washer assembly. Loosen the belt by using a crescent wrench. Twist the bolt on the motor bracket counterclockwise with the wrench to free the belt.
Slide the belt off and slide the new, replacement belt on in its place.
Tighten the motor's bolt back up with your crescent wrench. Tighten the bolt until there is about 1/2-inch of give in the belt's center.
Secure the back of the GE washer by reinserting its screws and bolts.
Reconnect the power cable to the power outlet.
