How to Repair a Sevylor Vinyl Air Seal

Holes and Tears Larger Than 2 Inches

  Clean the damaged area thoroughly and then wipe it completely dry with a towel.

  Deflate the item completely and then cut a round portion of the Sevylor vinyl seal repair patch material so it is large enough to cover the damage and extends beyond the rip by about 3/8 inch on all sides. Always cut the patch in a round or oval shape, never with corners.

  Coat the damaged area with the Sevylor Air Seal generously. Spread the sealant at least 3/8 inch past the torn edges on all sides.

  Press the patch over the damaged area making sure to avoid wrinkles as you do so. Smooth the patch using your thumb or finger to ensure it is pressed fully onto the vinyl.

  Apply Sevylor Air Seal to the edges of the patch if necessary to ensure it is adhered completely with no gaps.

  Allow the patch to dry for at least 10 hours before re-inflating.

Holes and Tears Smaller Than 2 Inches

  Clean the damaged section of vinyl completely and then dry with a towel.

  Deflate the item completely and smooth the damaged area. Apply a light coating of Sevylor Air Seal to holes and tears that are less than 2 inches in size.

  Wait five minutes to allow the coating to dry and add two more thin coats of Sevylor Air Seal to the damaged area.

  Apply up to five coatings to heavier vinyls such as those that are fabric-backed or vinyl used for inflatable boats.

Pin Holes

  Mix a solution of liquid soap and water and apply to all sections of your inflated vinyl item.

  Press down as you spray each section and watch for bubbles, particularly around valves and seams where pin holes tend to occur. If you see bubbles, this is where your pin hole leak is located.

  Dry the area completely with a towel and mark it with a marker or a piece of tape.

  Deflate the item completely and then apply a drop of Sevylor Air Seal to the hole. Wait for a few minutes for the seal to dry completely before re-inflating.
