What Takes Floor Glue off of Vinyl Siding?

Vinyl siding offers a cost-effective and appealing look for your home, but it can be prone to damage. If floor glue mars the siding when you're doing a project or making repairs, the sooner you remove it, the easier it is to get it off. Even if the adhesive fully dries, knowing what takes floor glue off vinyl siding, and the right tools for cleaning it up, will help you get the glue off -- without scratching or damaging the siding.

Instructions

    • 1

Scrape any wet floor glue carefully with a rubber spatula or ice scraper to remove as much as possible without scratching the vinyl siding. If the floor glue is already dry, start by applying adhesive remover.

    • 2

Apply adhesive remover to all of the floor glue residue. Citrus-based and soy-based adhesive removers are less toxic alternatives to typical chemical adhesive removers. Leave the adhesive remover on for three hours, or as long as the label instructions direct.

    • 3

Scrape the softened floor glue off the siding, working from the outside edges toward the center, using gentle pressure with a spatula or ice scraper. Work quickly so the glue doesn't have time to reharden.

    • 4

Repeat the glue-removing process, if necessary, to remove any remaining floor glue residue.
