Open any glass doors located at the front of the fireplace. Look for an access panel at the base of the fireplace. Open the access panel either with the small handle or by removing screws with a screwdriver. Inside the access panel will be the gas control panel and the gas shutoff valve. Behind the glass doors will be the pilot light, located beneath the ceramic logs.
Turn off the gas by turning the gas shutoff valve so it is parallel to the gas line. Look at the gas control panel. It will have a gas control knob with "pilot," "on," and "off" positions. Turn this knob to the "pilot" position.
Look for an igniter button on the gas control panel. This button will be either red or black. While pressing the igniter button, depress the gas control knob while it is in the "pilot" position. Observe the pilot light. It should now be lit. Keep the gas control depressed for the next 30 seconds, then release the gas control knob.
Watch the pilot light. If it remains lit, turn the gas control knob to the "on" position. If the pilot light extinguishes after the gas control is released, reattempt the lighting process. Occasionally, a pilot light line will have air bubbles in the line that need to be expelled prior to successful activation. Attempting to light the pilot light two or three times usually overcomes this problem.
Close the access panel and secure it using the screwdriver. Close the glass doors. Use the fireplace "on" switch (usually located on the wall next to the fireplace) or the remote control to turn on the fireplace. The fireplace should light within two minutes.
