Kohler Head Torque Specifications

Small engine repair often requires tightening nuts and bolts to specific torque. A specific range is given for each bolt on the machine to ensure proper operation for the life of the unit.
  1. Torque Matters

    • Over-tightened bolts can cause as much damage and injury as bolts left too loose. Always tighten bolts to factory specifications. Kohler engines can require as much as 400 foot-pounds of torque. Torque is a measurement of the energy released under a specific pressure. The torque wrench itself has graduated measurements you can follow as you tighten the bolt.

    Follow the Specifications

    • Use your specific machine's model and serial number to determine the correct torque range for your engine.

    Check and Double Check

    • Check each bolt and nut with the torque wrench during final assembly. Stay within the manufacturer range for safe operation.
