How to Repair Propane Leaks Under Pressure

Mix water and soap in a spray bottle. Mix the water to soap at eight parts water to two parts soap. Stir the spray bottle to ensure the water and soap are mixed together, creating the soap water mixture.

Spray the soapy water solution to any joints on the gas lines, or connection points on the gas lines. When you see bubbles forming, you found the leak.

With an adjustable wrench, tighten the connection point or the joint. Spray the area again with the soapy water mixture and check to see if it's still leaking. If the leak continues, redo the connection.

Turn off the main gas valve. Locate the main gas valve and twist it to the "Closed" position with your hands.

Remove the leaking joint or connection with an adjustable wrench. Place pipe thread compound on the threading you just removed. Proceed to place the joint or connection back in its place and tighten it securely with the adjustable wrench.

Turn on the main gas valve. Spray the soapy solution again at the leaking point and check to see whether bubbles form. If the joint is still leaking, either the connection or the gas lines will need to be reinstalled by a professional. Turn off the main gas valve until it's fixed by a professional.
