How to Fill in the Seams of Allure Flooring

Allure flooring is a type of vinyl covering or finish that is long-lasting and durable. Allure flooring is not like traditional hardwood or tile. Instead being nailed down or embedded in mortar, Allure flooring is glued together with prefabricated adhesive strips on the edges of the underside. A big advantage of Allure flooring -- other than its hardwood look -- is its ability to be moistened without damage because it is comprised of a of vinyl material. Instructions

    • 1

Open the windows in the room to provide better ventilation.

    • 2

Put on rubber gloves and pour adhesive solvent over the subfloor. Allow the solvent to soak into the subfloor floor about 30 minutes or as long as suggested by the manufacturer.

    • 3

Scrub the subfloor with a scrub brush, taking up all the dirt and grime. Then scrape over the entire subfloor with a floor scraper to take up any glue and/or debris that may be stuck to the concrete.

    • 4

Clean the subfloor with a mop and bucket and allow to air dry.

    • 5

Start in the corner furthest away from the doorway, laying the Allure flooring strips one by one. Place the first strip against the wall in the corner, then snap the next piece into the groove on the end of the first piece. Continue along the wall until the length of the wall is covered.

    • 6

Snap in the second course of Allure flooring, pushing the second row into the grooves on the first and over the protruding adhesive strip. Continue laying the Allure flooring row by row, snapping consecutive pieces into the installed pieces and pressing down on the exposed adhesive strip.

    • 7

Return to the spot where you began installing the Allure flooring. Hold a heat gun 4 to 5 inches from the seams where the first two rows meet and roll a hand roller over the seams as you heat them.

    • 8

Continue to seal each seam with a heat gun and roller, then walk over the seams as soon as possible to ensure each seam has sealed together.
