Instructions

    • 1

Remove the loose sections of old cement using a combination of a wire brush and a 6-inch drywall knife to scrape the shower base. Ensure that you scrape the sides of the base as well as the floor.

    • 2

Vacuum the smaller pieces of loose cement after you have picked up the larger pieces by hand. Use a shop vac to remove the smaller pieces and cement dust left behind after the scraping.

    • 3

Mix hydraulic cement powder with warm water in a bucket until it is the consistency of oatmeal, according to the package instructions. Use an electric drill with a stirrer bit installed to make the mixing easier.

    • 4

Smooth the hydraulic cement over the entire shower floor base evenly with a small cement trowel. Fill in cracks and divots on the sides of the shower base with the cement. Use the edge of the trowel to spread the cement evenly. Let the cement dry thoroughly overnight.

    • 5

Seal the shower floor base with a cement sealer. Apply the sealer with a paintbrush, and ensure that you spread it on the entire floor base. Allow the sealer to dry thoroughly according the instructions before using the shower.
