Carpet that has been cut can become frayed along the edges as the fibers wear down from use. The result is an unattractive carpet that can even become a tripping hazard. Preventing the edges of a carpet from fraying require that you seal the edge so the fibers cannot become unwound. A regular PVA craft adhesive is strong enough to keep the carpet fiber backing in place and prevent fraying.
