What Should I Do if My Pergo Floors Got Wet?

Pergo laminate floors are not as susceptible to water damage as hardwood floors, but over time, this type of floor expands if water is continuously used for cleaning without immediate drying afterward. A laminate floor contains four layers of material to provide a durable surface that resists moisture while retaining an appearance of natural wood. Although designed to be moisture-resistant, the floor's layers can eventually absorb high amounts of water; this expands the floorboards and can cause buckling. As a wet floorboard expands, it pushes against nearby floorboards and lifts to create an uneven surface, which requires replacement to restore a smooth surface.
