Brick floors create a warm, rustic look, but they take some work to maintain. Because bricks are made from porous clay, they absorb stains and moisture, causing them to slowly deteriorate. Grout and clay rub off with wear, causing dust and grit. This grit may be tracked into other parts of the house. The best way to manage brick floors is to seal them annually with a penetrating brick sealer. The sealer seals cracks and holes and protects bricks from stains.
