Wet a rag with nail polish remover. Rub over the laminate floor surface in small circles to scrub the discoloration from a laminate floor surface. If the stain gets smaller, continue rubbing the stain with nail polish remover until you remove all of the discoloration from the surface.
Wrap a sanding block with coarse sandpaper if the nail polish remover did not remove the discoloration from the floor surface. Sand the area of the laminate floor with the sanding block just until the stain no longer shows. Use long and wide strokes to prevent divots from forming in the floor’s surface.
Replace the sandpaper on the sanding block with fine-grit paper. Go over the surface where you removed the stain from the floor just enough to make the floor feel smooth to the touch again. Rub a tack cloth over the floor surface to remove the dust.
Dip a paintbrush into polyurethane coating and tap the brush on the side of the can to allow any excess coating to drip off. Apply the polyurethane to the area of the floor from which you removed the discoloration to replace the coating that you took off the floor surface with the sandpaper.
Leave the polyurethane coating standing for approximately 24 hours and check the coating. If bubbles have formed in the coating, sand over the polyurethane with fine-grit sandpaper until the bubbles disappear. Wipe the dust up with a tack cloth and apply another coat of polyurethane.
