Stretch a tape measure across the width of the doorway opening and write down the measurement. Measure the gap from the laminate floor up to the bottom of the door casing to determine the depth. Take the measurements to a hardware store and purchase a beveled threshold that is the same width and depth.
Measure the beveled threshold molding to the same width and mark the location using a pencil. Cut through the location with a hacksaw blade or a circular saw.
Find the rubber gasket for the molding and cut it to the same width as the molding, using tin snips. Press the black gasket onto the bottom of the threshold molding.
Insert construction adhesive into a caulk gun. Cut the tip off at a 45 degree angle using a utility knife and insert a screwdriver into the tip to puncture the inner seal. Squeeze the gun trigger three to four times until a bead of caulk emerges from the tip.
Apply a 1/4-inch bead of caulk along the edge of the laminate where it meets the other flooring or the door opening.
Turn the threshold so the beveled side faces up and press it into the adhesive. Examine the sides of the threshold molding to ensure it completely covers the gaps in the door casings.
Apply three strips of painter's tape over the threshold at equally spaced intervals to hold it in place while the adhesive dries.
