Grip a pliers around the damaged area of the chain mesh. Pull the mesh until the tie wires that hold it in place loosen.
Affix a fence puller. This should be connected between the fence post nearest to the mesh and to the damaged area of mesh.
Tighten the fence puller. This will alleviate tension in the tension bar. Disconnect the tension bar by unscrewing the bolts situated in the tension band on the fence post. Slacken the fence puller and take it off the chain mesh.
Remove the torn sections of mesh. Unravel a loop of mesh towards the top of the damaged area. Grip the strand firmly and pull free once untangled. Unravel mesh at the bottom area of the damaged mesh in the same way.
Disconnect the damaged strands of mesh and remove from the fence. Clip an area of new mesh of roughly the same size as the damaged area using pliers. Weave this section into the unraveled strands you loosened in step 4.
Fix a push bar in the chain mesh roughly 4 feet from the fence post. Reconnect the fence puller. Crank the pull bar to bind together the chain mesh strands and secure them in place.
Connect the tension bar to the tension band. Unattach the fence puller from the fence.
Affix fresh tie wires so they bind the chain mesh securely against the upper rail and posts. Feed a replacement tension wire through the lower openings in the chain mesh. Your chain mesh fence is now repaired.
