How to clean Adhesive off a Deck

An outdoor wood deck is a great addition to any house, but it requires some upkeep to keep the wood clean and looking its best. Instructions

    • 1

Scrape the adhesive off the deck as much as possible using a metal scraping tool, such as a windshield ice remover. Try not to scratch the wood in the process. Use short, firm strokes to pry the adhesive from underneath.

    • 2

Scrub the area where the adhesive was using a washcloth soaked in warm soapy water. Clean in small, circular strokes.

    • 3

Read the instructions on the deck cleaner bottle carefully. Some deck cleaners require the deck to be wet before applying, while others recommend applying while the deck is dry. If the wood needs to be dry, wait until the area has dried thoroughly before applying the cleaner.

    • 4

Dip the soft bristle brush into the deck cleaner and apply it directly to the area that had the adhesive. Do not allow the cleaner to puddle, but cover the area in smooth, even strokes. Allow the deck cleaner to soak into the wood for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Rinse the area with a high-powered garden hose.
