How to Get Silicone Off of Stucco

Stucco exteriors need to be sealed to ensure dampness from outside doesn't leak inside. However, silicone sealers can stick where they are not wanted if applied incorrectly. Removal of the silicone is fairly simple and can be done in a day if it is only affecting a small area.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Pour ice into the large bucket. Ensure that it is at the top of the bucket.

    • 2

Insert your hands into the gloves.

    • 3

Hold the bucket in your hands, face up. Turn it on its side so the ice rests against the silicone.

    • 4

Hold the bucket in place for three to five minutes, or until the silicone is completely hard.

    • 5

Remove the ice. Place it aside. Insert a knife between the silicone and the stucco. Lever it upwards to chip it off. Continue to scrape until all the silicone is removed.

    • 6

Repeat Steps 1-5 in any other areas of the stucco with silicone.
