How to Install Leaf Relief Retro-Fit

When debris starts filling up gutters, it can prevent the free flow of water, make the gutters less effective and even lead to rot in the fascia roof overhang. This can be especially troublesome during the fall and winter months in wooded areas. Leaf Relief gutter protectors are designed to prevent leaves and debris from filling up the gutter, while allowing water to flow smoothly through them. Leaf Relief Retro Fit panels are designed to fit over existing five and six inch width gutters. These can be installed by the homeowner using simple materials.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean out your gutters and downspouts with water so no debris will be trapped inside.

    • 2

Attach the corner pieces. These pieces come in a set of two with one straight end and one diagonal end. Place the two pieces on the gutter corner so the diagonal ends touch each other in the corner. Drill four screws into the outer wall of the gutter by drilling through the retro-fit corner piece from the inside. Drill two screws into the inner lip of the gutter through the edge of each retro-fit corner piece.

    • 3

Place the other Leaf Relief sections over the gutter, starting from the corner. Each piece should overlap the previous piece by about 1/2 inch. The final strip on the Leaf Relief piece should face the outside edge.

    • 4

Drill screws into the Leaf Relief sections where they overlap. Drill screws through the top of each section and into the gutter every 2 feet.

    • 5

Place and attach sections until you get to the end of the gutter. Use the shears to cut off the last 4 inches of the final Leaf Relief section.

    • 6

Cut 1/2 inch from the front lip, parallel to the lip. Make another cut with the shears at a 90 degree angle to the first cut. Fold the metal piece under the section.
