Clear away dirt and debris from the transition area using a broom. Remove stuck on debris, such as chewing gum, using a putty knife.
Place painter's tape along the top of the transition about 2 inches from the edge and parallel to it. Place tape along the back edge of the lower part of sidewalk at the bottom of the step formed by the transition.
Paint a stripe along the top of the transition between the tape and the edge of the sidewalk. Use parking lot stripping paint to highlight the transition. Paint the vertical part of the transition. Allow the paint to dry for several hours before removing the tape and continuing normal use.
