How to Remove Rubber Skid Marks From Concrete

Hot tires deposit unattractive rubber skid marks on your concrete even with only a short period of contact. Whether your skid marks are the result of a hasty retreat or simply arriving home and parking your car's hot tires in the driveway, these marks can really add up. Concrete is highly porous, which allows the hot rubber to sink below the immediate surface of the concrete. To remove the rubber marks completely, you must use a cleaner that can get into the pores of the concrete.

Instructions

    • 1

Sweep the area to remove loose dirt and debris that can hinder cleaning.

    • 2

Spray concrete degreaser directly onto the skid marks. Some degreasers are concentrated, while others are ready to use from the bottle. Read the directions on the container carefully to determine whether you need to dilute the cleanser or not.

    • 3

Allow the cleanser to sit on the skid marks for the amount of time listed on the package instructions. Most degreasers need at least five minutes to cut through the grime.

    • 4

Rinse the area using a pressure washer. Set the stream so that it is no thinner than 2 inches wide and be sure to rinse the entire area. If any tire marks remain, repeat the degreaser application and allow it to sit for a longer amount of time.
