How to Troubleshoot a Cal Spa Time Clock

The timer on a Cal Spa will keep the spa at your desired temperature for a specified amount of time. The timer has three separate modes: Standard, Economy, Sleep and Standby. Standard will maintain the desired temperature; Economy will heat the spa to the desired temperature during the filter cycles; Sleep heats the spa to within 20 degrees Fahrenheit of the set temperature during the filter cycles; and Standby is used before turning off spa functions before changing a filter. The timer should function with each mode but could be disengaged for several reasons.

Instructions

    • 1

Unlock the panel, if previously locked. Press the "TIME" button, select the "JETS 1" button, then the "DOWN" arrow key. Make sure to press all buttons within three seconds. The timer function will then be available.

    • 2

Press the "TIME" button to set the time. Then press the "MODE/PROG" button and use the up and down arrows to select a mode. You can then use the up and down buttons to adjust the time the Cal Spa will be in that mode.

Press any button to reset the spa after entering standby mode or to get the spa out of Safety Suction. Safety Suction occurs when a vacuum switch closes. When in either state, the functions will turn off and the display will flash "Stby" while in Standby or "SF" while in Safety Suction. Any button will reset the spa features, including the timer.

Replace the sensor if any of the following warning signs are displayed: SA, Sb, SNA or Snb. The sensor plugged into "A" or "B" jacks is not currently working. Once replaced, the timer function will return.

    • 5

Allow the spa to reset itself if OH, OHS, HH or OHH are displayed. This indicates that the spa is currently over 110 degrees Fahrenheit and is unsafe. The spa will cool itself down to 107 degrees Fahrenheit and then reset itself. The timer function will then be restored.
