How to Remove an Aluminum Frame From Brick

Use a stiff brush to clean off the area where the aluminum meets the brick. In the case of a window, for example, this would be where the edge of the window intersects the brick wall. This will give you a better idea of how the aluminum is secured.

Use a utility knife to cut away the caulk around the aluminum frame.

Tape up any glass present in the aluminum with painters or masking tape. This will keep the glass in place while you are removing the frame.

Remove the trim from the inside face of the aluminum frame. Insert the edge of a crow or pry bar underneath the trim and gently pry it up and away from the wall. Do this around all four sides of the frame.

Remove any trim from the outside face of the aluminum frame, using the same technique with the pry bar and crowbar.

Look on the inside of the frame for any bolts or screws holding the frame in place on the brick. Use a screwdriver or wrench to remove the fasteners as needed. While you are working, have an assistant brace the frame from the inside so it doesn't fall out of place suddenly.

Lift the aluminum frame out of position toward the outside face.
