Loosen the screws on a 3/8-inch connector with a Phillips screwdriver. Insert the connector in the hole in the fixture's junction box. Repeat with the second recessed light fixture. Place each fixture on the floor, below their respective locations. Measure the distance between the two fixtures and add 2 feet. This tells you how long you will need to cut the connecting wire.
Cut a length of 14-gauge electrical cable with a wire stripper/cutter to the measurement from Step 1. Insert one of the cable's ends into the first fixture's connector and the other end into the other cable's connector. If either connector is at the end of the electrical chain, tighten the connector's screws with a screwdriver. Leave the other connector loose so you can wire it to the power source.
Cut the electrical cable protruding through both fixtures' connectors to approximately 6 inches long. Use a utility knife to slice through the cable's center. Peel the rubber coating and paper away from the electrical wires and cut them off with the utility knife.
Strip away the casing from the black and white wires with the wire stripper/cutter.
Locate the black, white and green wires coming from the light fixtures' junction box. At each fixture, hold the black wires together. Twist a wire nut over them. Repeat with the white wires and the green or bare copper wires. The last light fixture in the series will only have two black, white and green or bare copper wires, the other fixtures will have three of each wire.
Bend the wires and tuck them into each fixture's junction box. Clip the box's cover onto the fixture to protect the wires.
