How to Dress an Electrical Panel

Electrical panels house all the circuit breakers and electrical circuits of a home. The downside to an electrical panel is that they are not pleasant to look at. While there can be many ways of hiding an electrical panel, sometimes called dressing a panel, the two most common methods are also the most effective. With the right tools and directions you will be able to quickly hide your electrical panel and make it look great.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the width and length of the electrical panel cover with the tape measure. Buy a picture frame of your liking that is at least 2 inches bigger in width and length.

    • 2

Attach the picture hanging strips above the electrical panel and on the picture frame. The hanging strips have two parts; one part goes on the back of the picture frame and the other goes on the wall. Remove the backing paper from one part of a strip and attach it to the wall above the center of the electrical panel. It does not matter which part of the strip you use. Attach the other part of the strip on the center of the picture frame. Read the packaging for the picture hanging strips for visual directions on how to install them.

Connect the picture frame to the strip attached to the wall.

Paint the electrical panel the same color as the wall around it, if you do not want to hang a picture frame. This will make the panel less visible and easier to hide.
