Shut off power to the AC motor circuit at the main power panel. Check the drum-switch documentation to identify each pin on the drum switch. Locate the "Line" (black and red) terminals and the common wire (white) terminal. Cut the ROMEX® wire to a length that will run from the drum switch to the receptacle.
Strip 1/2 inch of insulation off both ends of the white and black wire of the ROMEX®. At the receptacle, connect the black wire of the ROMEX® to the bronze terminal of the receptacle. Connect the white wire to the silver terminal of the receptacle. Connect the ground wire to the green ground terminal. Secure the receptacle to the receptacle junction box and attach the receptacle cover using the screwdriver.
Go back to the drum switch and locate the white common wire. Loosen the terminal screw for this wire and add the other end of the white ROMEX® wire to this terminal. Re-tighten this screw to secure this connection. Connect the other end of the black ROMEX® wire to either the "Line1" or "Line 2" terminal. Turn the power back on at the main power panel.
